Coming of Age Workshop

July 15, 2022 by Full Circle KC

Join our preteen yoga and puberty for girls workshop! Our coming of age workshop is a 3-hour workshop that celebrates the changes in preteen girls in the Kansas City area.

In many cultures, the phases of a life cycle are celebrated and honored with traditions and ceremonies. In this workshop kids (she/her) and mothers are invited to celebrate, share, and honor the coming of age from kid towards adult.
This intimate and sacred 3-hour workshop will include group discussion and education about puberty, activities, journal writing, yoga, storytelling, and ideas for a memorable celebration that commemorates a first moon/period/menstrual cycle.
We will help facilitate a time of connecting, story telling, and offering information about puberty, periods, products and mental health to help open the doors of conversations between you and your child.
Hosted by Jenny Hellman, MSW, owner of Full Circle Yoga and Stephanie Cook, RN

Benefits of Yoga for Kids and Teens

March 10, 2022 by Full Circle KC

When yoga for kids and teens are designed to be playful it opens opportunity for them to experience their breath and body movement without judgement.  It meets them where they are in their bodies so they can embrace changes their bodies and minds go through in growing up.  Research shows that yoga and mindfulness have a positive impact on our children.

Through yoga, mindfulness, and connection, one learns tools for coping in times of stress and/or chaos. Yoga poses help improve concentration, focus, memory, coordination, and self awareness, strength, balance, flexibility, and mindfulness.  Our philosophy at Full Circle Yoga is to teach children yoga poses and tools that will help support them in every day living.  Yoga is taught in a variety of methods, including, games, basic and challenging poses, incorporating nature, partner poses, music, stories and so much more.

Our number one goal is to create a space for children to feel comfortable, supported and heard, so that they can feel confident, empowered, and respected.

Our kids yoga class, ages 3-6 is offered the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00am. A yoga class that is a highly engaging yet calming. Kids Yoga is designed to teach children yoga and mindfulness so that they can best manage the world around them. Through yoga poses children will improve their coordination, balance, and body awareness.  We encourage caregivers to join in the fun!

Our Big Kids/Family Yoga is offered every third Saturday of the month at 1:00pm.

Additionally we are partnering with Chelsea Medlock owner of Sevana Wren Studio who offers a Family Yoga and Hike every month starting in April.

We look forward to seeing you and your amazing children at Full Circle Yoga KC!

“Big Baby” Conversations: What You Need to Know

“Big Baby” Conversations: What You Need to Know

It’s not uncommon during pregnancy to hear your provider say, “Your baby might be big.” These words can stir up worry, confusion, and even shift how your birth plan is discussed. Often, this estimation comes from an ultrasound, growth scan, or a physical exam (palpation). But here’s something important to remember: these methods are not […]

Camp, Connection, and Navigating Transitions

Camp, Connection, and Navigating Transitions

As the days ticked down to taking my daughter to camp, I noticed a familiar flutter of anxiety building in my chest. She’s been to camp before, but this year felt different—bigger. Two full weeks away. Twelve hours from home. A whole new state. I can keep myself busy for five days, sure… but twelve? […]
